Improve Your Open Water Swim Technique

One-on-One Instruction

Pool

All indoor pool swim sessions are conducted at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary, NC, a state-of-the-art facility. During the summer months, when the weather is warm and inviting, I don’t mind meeting you at your community pool if your Homeowners Association (HOA) allows it, providing a convenient and comfortable setting for your lessons.  Additionally, I also invite clients to my community pool during the summer early morning hours. 

Open Water

I also offer one-on-one open-water swim sessions. I’ll take my paddle board for safety and we'll focus on essential open water skills. Whether you're preparing for a triathlon or simply looking to enhance your open-water skills, these sessions are tailored to meet your individual needs and goals.

 

 

Please sign a waiver prior to your first session. You only have to do it once. It's good for any event for the rest of the year. 

 

Note: Please note that lane rentals are not included in the 1-hr sessions and are an additional fee. Once you have purchased a lane rental, I will coordinate with the Triangle Aquatic Center to schedule a time and confirm the details with you. Please provide 2-3 preferred times on your order.

 

Swim analysis with Dartfish

Swim Analysis 

The assessment involves capturing videos from various angles to analyze your form and identify performance limiters. Specific drills are then practiced to improve efficiency. A follow-up video call allows for detailed analysis and personalized feedback, helping the swimmer understand and enhance their technique.

I had a one hour swim session with Joel and it was fantastic!
We covered all of the topics that I was concerned about for race day. In the water, we practiced my drafting techniques, evaluated my sighting for both left and right breathing sides, and practiced strategies for buoy turns. I also realized that I knew very little about race starts. Joel taught me about the different types of race starts, strategies to capitalize on each type of start, and ways to to decrease anxiety about cold water (which is a big deal for me!).  I feel much more confident in my preparation for my swim after consulting with Joel.
